Touting my town

I can't believe I've lived here 6 years and not checked out the Carousel!  Kim and I both thought it would be an old and rundown type of park with an old and rundown type of merry-go-round...BOY, were we WRONG!  We had a few hours Sunday to go check out some things to do when the grandgirls come back in September and we found some great stuff all within 8 miles of us!  I'll show you the carousel and when they visit I'll show you some more fun things to do.

Shelby, NC Carousel and train

Cannot wait till they get here!!!!

Fluffer Notter

My little sewing project today was to try and make some washable covers for my Swiffer handles.  The inspiration came from here Reusable Swiffer Duster Cloth Tutorial and I don't usually follow directions word for word but I did with these because they looked so good.  This is what hers looks like....

....and this is what mine look like....hmm

I haven't dusted with them, I will do that in the morning...I know they will work just fine (I need to clip ravelly strings off of them)...I just want to know how she got hers so FLUFFY!!!!

UPDATE:  They work great!!

RIP

Last week, a young woman I knew and worked with was killed by her boyfriend, not only did he take her life and that of 3 of her children (one unborn), he also took his own.  He did leave one survivor, Destiny, who is fighting for her life in the hospital (update, she is doing better, Thank you God!)  Tracy was one of the sweetest people I have ever met and she adored her children.  I have seen, been near, and helped people I know with abuse, but none have ever ended in death.  I am at such a loss as to what I think and feel, this will take some time sorting out.  Please pray for Destiny,  she has a destiny, possibly divine.  The Story

Last week  I also lost my dearly beloved Keera.  My grandbabies and Patrick and Stephanie came to spend a week with us.  Keera was really sick  the day before they came and and I realized this was her time.  I had been hoping it wouldn't come. Ever.  The most awesome vet I have ever had came to my house and helped her painlessly go to her new home (over the Rainbow Bridge).  I was with family in my house all week and yesterday was the first day I was alone and feeling the full effect of my Keera being gone.

Bitter Betty Blogs ...it's for an IRON...yep, an iron and yep we all need a GOOD one...and mine spits brown stuff at me so I hope I win it...but you can all try...

I FOUND my camera...Daft husband swore he last saw it beside my computer,  Daft wife believed him, Daft wife went through EVERY craft area and EVERY room and EVERY car (but his)  and  EVERY outdoor area 3 times in 4 days to make sure she didn't just 'lay' it somewhere for a minute, Daft wife decided to order one and was telling Daft husband about it Monday night and Daft husband said y'know ...it could be in my jeep...Not-Daft son #3 went to check jeep and ...came in with camera...I am no longer daft, but Daft Husband will remain DAFT  (funny word and I way over-used it...lol)

The twins will be here Thursday evening and I get them all to myself for at least 4 days with no parental units attached to them...I LOVE it when I get them alone...Patrick is in CA and Steph is visiting her family w/o any children...too bad in-laws, they are mine this week!

I have to go finish up a whale I was making for a swap...mine seemed to keep coming out too small so I have some graduated sizes going on right now...then I will have to get all the pins and scissors put away, they are way too fascinating for two 2-yo's!

...for Mother's Day I got a Kenmore blender and a coffee-maker (in red that matches my Kitchen-Aid stuff), and I was told that another gift was on the horizon...well.. I got it Monday...he found a Featherweight 221 for me....and the pic is really bad , it's dusty and will be going to a lady I know that refurbishes them and she thinks it was a great deal, it does sew and sews well!!...the Husband did an awesome thing (he's still DAFT), and I so love it! and him!
Bad pic but when it's shined up and perfect, I'll repost!

Days aren't long enough!

We are getting into the 70' and 80's this week...it's lovely out there. I was going to do some sewing, but wouldn't you know...the grands are coming, in fact, I think the whole family will be here this weekend...YAY...but...I will have to clean and re-arrange and I had started a tiny sorting project that is now full blown...if the rains stays away i will be taking every sewing and crafty thing out of my house and putting it in the back yard...then going through each and every box and trying to get this stuff down to HALF it's size...I know right. Will post pics when I get it all out there...tomorrow afternoon is the goal...kinda like CLEAN HOUSE style, stay pile, go pile, give pile!

I went to the lake for a few days...and I have been doing a little hiking and I have a pic I took that I cannot get out of my mind! I KNOW there is something to be 'made' with this thing (water-logged stump)...and I want to bring it home with me...I really do have a problem....maybe a Hoarder's appearance is in order.
Here's a pansy from Kim's flowers ...

and Mike's and his 'new' car...hope this one lasts longer...

...and a fabric Fish Post Card I made for a swap...so fun!

545 vs. 300,000,000+

545 vs. 300,000,000+ ---- NOT THE MAJORITY

The article below is completely neutral, ...not anti republican or democrat.

Charlie Reese, a retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinal has hit the nail

directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must

assume responsibility for the judgements made that impact each one of us every day.

545 vs. 300,000,000

EVERY CITIZEN NEEDS TO READ THIS AND THINK ABOUT WHAT THIS JOURNALIST HAS SCRIPTED IN THIS MESSAGE. READ IT AND THEN REALLY THINK ABOUT OUR CURRENT POLITICAL DEBACLE.

Charley Reese has been a journalist for 49 years.

545 PEOPLE--By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them..

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits..... The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red ..

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power..

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees...

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper.

What you do with this article now that you have read it......... Is up to you.

This might be funny if it weren't so darned true.

Be sure to read all the way to the end:

Tax his land,

Tax his bed,

Tax the table,

At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,

Tax his mule,

Teach him taxes

Are the rule.

Tax his work,

Tax his pay,

He works for peanuts

Anyway!

Tax his cow,

Tax his goat,

Tax his pants,

Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,

Tax his shirt,

Tax his work,

Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,

Tax his drink,

Tax him if he

Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,

Tax his beers,

If he cries

Tax his tears.

Tax his car,

Tax his gas,

Find other ways

To tax his ass.

Tax all he has

Then let him know

That you won't be done

Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers;

Then tax him some more,

Tax him till

He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,

Tax his grave,

Tax the sod in

Which he's laid...

Put these words

Upon his tomb,

Taxes drove me

to my doom...'

When he's gone,

Do not relax,

Its time to apply

The inheritance tax..
