It's still January?

I still do not have NEW pics of my grand twin girls...DS1 and DIL are in some very hot water.......Say hi to Hayley and Olivia..I just like looking at them since I cannot hold them..I need a visit..or I need a prolonged stay...or maybe I need to move to Nashville!

Woohoo...Nascar starts up soon, my hubby will be in better spirits...he and my oldest son are the only 2 of the 5 males in the house who like the racing thing...and I heard something very funny the other day...NASCAR - Non Athletic Sport Centered Around Rednecks. Hahaha, he was NOT amused, but I think he cracked a smile when he turned away from me (in a huff).

I am on a sewing spree lately, again this has to do with getting a practical and a practicing plan of action about making the time to 'create'...it's good for me, I am nicer to people when I get to make stuff, I haven't yelled at the kids but once this month. I am making some Wonder Wallets and I will attempt my first Lazy Girl bag, Miranda, she's so pretty, I sure hope I will be able to say the same about mine...http://www.lazygirldesigns.com/ Go see and play with me.

46 weeks

I joined a Yahoo group that I simply love...love the concept, love the people, love the support.
You see, this year I will be starting my Christmas list now and getting gifts made throughout the year...so that when the 2nd week of December rolls around, I won't be stressing, I'll be sipping egg nog and watching Christmas movies. OK people, it's a goal, and goals are good.

I also have made a few appointments...hair, nails, facial, spa massage. You see, this year I am working a bit on myself. It's the big one...I turn 50 and I want to look better. One of my BFF's from high school also turns that #, albeit a week before me, so I have to see how she fares first, it is coming up very soon though...as a matter of fact almost all of my friends from HS turn beautiful this year.

I really just wanted to say I love my life and I'm glad I have one.

Comfort food season

This is what I had for breakfast today...so yummy!



Biscuit Pudding(6 servings)
6 biscuits (cold)
1 cup water
1 1/4 cups sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup raisins
2 eggs lightly beaten
1/2 cup evaporated milk Soak crumbled biscuits in hot water for a few minutes; add sugar, butter, nutmeg, raisins, beaten eggs, and milk, mixing after each addition.Pour into 1-quart greased baking dish; bake in preheated 350 degree oven for about 30 to 40 minutes, or until browned.

Been down in dumps (fibro flare with pain) and haven't been around the computer lately...so finally finished decorating the tree YESTERDAY! Getting my mojo back and hope to show some awesome FINISHED projects soon.

I also covered a lampshade today...so proud of myself, whole thing took 30 minutes, my kind of DIY...

I hate the countdown.

Thanksgiving is over...wow. Where does the time go? I asked Kim after Halloween if I could start Christmas decorating...he just looked at me wierd....but it seems like all my Thanksgivings involve Christmas decorations and smells...so since we've been married (25 years...wow) we have always gotten the tree the day after Thanksgiving and all the decorations come out and then I slip new ones in every year and see if anyone notices before Christmas Day...and they usually do not until they are helping me put them away mid-January. So, we have our tree ready to come join us inside anytime...but Kim had a little shoulder surgery 2 weeks ago and we are both working a lot and the 2 boys who are left here with us are well,...ok, I'll say it...useless in the house cleaning, tree carrying in, feeding their pets, doing anything for anyone else but themselves area of life...altho I get a daily dose of laughter from each of them , so they do earn their keep...sorta. My tree will probably not go up until Monday evening and will probably not be getting decorations until Wed/Thurs. But I still have the evergreen smell and that's the most important part. It seems we try a new place every year, living room (where no one goes except when a 'stranger' comes to the front door, the dining room where it looks beat down after a week because we are always brushing by it, the sitting room (literally a sitting room, no room for much else but the computer and a chair and a tree)...this year it will be the den where we all gather except Kim. We all love this room except for Kim. When there is a storm and the lights go out we go to the den and sit and play charades except for Kim. It was Kim's bright idea to put the Christmas tree in the den. Wonder what he's trying to say here?

I have been busy here, too busy. We have our first frost and lots of stuff going on...have been working on my quilts, tho.

Things sure change quickly

I am in a bit of a fibro flare right now, so my head does not work properly...but I am an official grandmother now...the twins are here and they are perfect little baby girls and no I have not seen them yet (damn fibro)...but I will get there soon!

I have worked on and finished 2 of my UFO quilts and will be working on a finishing 2 more this week...hopefully the 'fog ' will clear out of the head for me to show you some awesome leaf shots I got today from my trip to Ashevolle...the colors are fantastic!

I have a feeling this week will be a fine bitch session and a raving report of little girls!

...goodness is what it will take for me to explain WHY I have so many unfinished (UFO"S) quilt tops....

My top 10 reasons:

1. I am easily bored.
   


2. I put too much on my plate (y'know the thing when you were a kid and you piled food on your plate, only to find after 4 bites, you were FULL
   


3. I must have ADD, (2 of the 4 boys do, I inherited it)



4. I rebelling against my mom and dad (they would be apalled)



5. I forget...nuff said.



6. It's easier to watch tv doing a new project than to watch tv finessing a project.



7. I have no floor space to lay out and sandwich larger items w/o Jiffy (the cat) or Keera (the husky-mix) from deciding they LOVE it and have to check it out...and then stay on it....had a few where I layed out to finish and Jiffy decided to make them his he took a pee...bad, bad kitty and he NEVER does that except on those projects!
   


8. I procrastinate, that's different from forgetting.



9. My binding skills are not up to (my) par.



10. I like having a future (I cannot die with things left to do, right?)

In all actuality, this makes me sad. Some people have seen these and are waiting on them, a few for YEARS!

There are 2 of some of these, and there are some I know I have, but couldn't find, and there are also some other crafty sewing projects that need finishing (I love my serger)...and I am really scared to look in the sewing room closet or on the wall shelves...unh, unh, NOT today.

I get plenty of other things done, including some quilts that I give away. I do well under pressure and a deadline....so what EVIL has gotten hold of me? I don't even like half of these quilt tops anymore, that's how old some of these are...my tastes and skills have changed. So my goal for each month is to knock out 3 of these until they are done...just in time for Christmas, and beyond....but I saw some really cute stuff to make for Christmas and the twins are due, and my National Guard son may want a blankie from home, and my nieces love batiks (as do I), and.....oooooh, I need a sedative, and maybe some counselling. I dare ya to actually take pics of your UFO's and see if it's not just a little freaky...let me know how may you have.
